This was one of the first projects I managed for KR Builders. Scope of work was to turn unfinished storage space above a garage into a master suite. This included removing the existing roof down to the ceiling joists below to install a new ridge and add in some doghouse dormers to add some light to the space. Also raised up the wall height of the breezeway connecting this space to the existing house and transformed half as a walk in closet. Added a small two story addition off the back of the garage to be used as a mudroom/laundry on the first floor and the second floor would become the master bathroom. Some unequal pitch valleys gave the cathedral ceiling a unique look that came together to be aesthetically pleasing. Biggest challenge on this one was keeping all the untouched space below dry during a Maine winter during the demo/framing stages. Got real creative with some tarps and basically made an entire tarp roof system to protect these spaces.
